The laws on the books have been actually written by attorneys retained by big corporations, to protect corporations from the people, at the expense of the people.
Do elites use corporate power to control politics because they don't trust people to vote? Would they [elites] rather design the outcome of elections than have the votes of millions of under-educated citizens (with their potential to swing decisions based on uneducated, weak and susceptible reasoning) participate democratically?
