Seven Defects of American Governance – Part 1

Seven Defects of American Governance – Part 1 Beyond the Magnificent Seven, there are a bunch of other sevens; the seven climes, the seven continents, the feast of the seven fishes, the seven dwarfs, the seven deadly sins, the seven sacraments, the seven seas, the seven seals with their seven secrets, the seven virtues and the Seven Wonders of the World to name at least most of them. To these I have another seven; our federal government's policies of war and empire, the need for restoration of…See More

Seven Defects of American Governance -- Part 2

By Harold Hellickson

Sorry about the long delay from Part 1 in this 3 part blog, but here is Part 2.  The concluding Part 3 will be submitted next week.

Our government's policies of war and empire, the need for restoration of sanity to our monetary, fiscal, and trade policies, reversing the income inequality trend, and improving social justice, these I consider the seven major defects of modern day American…

The Seven Defects of American Governance

Just as there are seven dwarfs, seven virtues, and seven deadly sins there are seven major policy defects of American governance; the policies of war, empire, monetary, fiscal, trade, income inequality and social justice.  This article is a summary statement of these seven defects.  A more detailed discussion of each of these defects will follow in four seperate articles.

The war on terror was stupidly enacted and is stupidly conducted.…

Matching its all time low, the current approval rating of Congress is 18%. Special interests continue to divert Congress from the public interests. The game is rigged and Congress is incapable de-rigging it. So too, it is literally impossible for citizen voters to create fundamental political and social change by strictly adhering to only those methods approved by the government.

Or is it?

The only apparent alternative for peaceful change is that prescribed in Article V… Continue

Here's more proof leaning towards Corporations blatantly abandoning the USA.

WSJ Citi to cut down U.S. branch network to 6 areas & limit consumer lending in U.S. to credit cards & jumbo mortgages, largely to affluent consumers. Citigroup to USA: Thanks for the bailout. Now F.U!

#fail Citi

Haa! Canada has the Looney on it's coin, so why not.

I'm not so sure of the China currency issue. When China buys US Debt they prop up our dollar, while keeping their currency relatively lower, making their goods affordable to the US consumer. I can't see China substantially switching to a global currency until they find a larger market for their goods. A market like India but their class structure stalls that idea. Their cast system is legalized slavery or something akin to our use of illegal Mexican and Caribbean labor. Maybe Brazil if they can build up a strong middle class.

As for the Global Currency, I can definitely see that happening if or when the transnationals or multi-national corporations develop a solidarity --based on capitalist greed, and desire to escape US laws/regulation-- to develop an international government entity with laws they can better exploit. I can see this power-move by the Elite to further exploit the commodity specialized of human labor. ie pitting India's, China's and Russia's degreed workforce against the West.

However, I can also see another scenario, being the Western Elite starting a war between Pakistan and India or Israel and Iran to divert attention from the US Citizens and prevent the revolt you suggest.

Fight the good fight Harold. We need to promote open debate in our academic institutions to improve on our forms of government and move us into a new era. I say the catalyst for massive systemic change will be one person! A Rosa Parks or a Gandhi. Someone that amplifies the causes of suffering and injustice.

Harold,

I love your satire in the renaming of rooms for the forthcoming George W. Bush Presidential Library. You should submit this to the GlossyNews website
>>>>>>
Recently I received an email proposing a number of named rooms for the forthcoming George W. Bush Presidential Library. They were wonderful but with so many many Bush Administration accomplishments, the library just seemed too small. Accordingly I felt the following were deserving of consideration.
--The Iran Room, which is still in the planning stage.
--The Iraq Debacle Room, where Cheney, Rumsfield, and Wolfowitz (along with a bust of Bush) will be on permanent display.
--The Corporate Room, where you go for privatization by government, obtain no-bid crony contracts, and generally just suck at the public treasury; where democracy is denied and where complete control of Congress is maintained. --The Financial Institution Room, where you go to neutralize the regulators and get a special suck at the public treasury through bailouts.
--The Collusion Room, for Democrats elected to the House and Senate.

The Plutocracy Room, shorthand for the entire library.
--The Legacy Room, which will remain empty except for the hope that he has not killed the Republican election hopes for a generation or two.
-- The National Debt & Trade Deficit Room, which has no ceiling and where the value of the dollar shrinks to zero and our national economy really goes to hell in a hand basket.
--The Afghanistan Room, which should have been the only room in the library except for his leadership.
--The Emergency Room, sometimes available to those 47 million Americans without health insurance.

The original email had the following rooms:The Hurricane Katrina Room, which is still under construction.
-- The Alberto Gonzales Room, where you won't be able to remember anything.
-- The Texas Air National Guard Room, where you don't even have to show up.
-- The Walter Reed Hospital Room, where they don't let you in.

-- The Guantanamo Bay Room, where they don't let you out.
-- The Weapons of Mass Destruction Room, which no one has been able to find. --The National Debt Room, which is huge and has no ceiling; renamed above.
-- The Tax Cut Room, with entry only to the wealthy.
-- The Economy Room, which is in the toilet.

-- The Iraq War Room, After you complete your first tour, they make you to go back for a second, third, fourth, and sometimes fifth tour.
-- The Dick Cheney Room, in the famous undisclosed location, complete with shotgun gallery.
-- The Environmental Conservation Room, still empty.
-- The Supremes Gift Shop, where you can buy an election.
-- The Airport Men's Room, where you can meet some of your favorite Republican Senators.
-- The Decider Room, complete with dart board, magic 8-ball, Ouija board, dice, coins, and straws.

How about you naming some of your own rooms? Enjoy, have fun.

Don't know if you saw it or not but Paul Krugman today (7/26/09), as a panel member talking head on ABC, defined the word "gaffe" better than any dictionary could. Your dictionary might say, for example, a gaffe is:

A clumsy social error; a faux pas, or

A blatant mistake or misjudgment.

Paul Krugman defined it as:

A politician telling the truth.

The uberelites have got us and will keep us for as long as Mother Nature permits.

Re: Last night's (7/24/09) Bill Moyers Journal on health care. It certainly is enjoyable and enlightening to watch a program that features intelligent, highly qualified, guests with experience and knowledge actually discuss an issue without "spin".

Obama does not have the balls to fight for what is needed. If there is any health care reform package passed it will surely be at the behest of and to the advantage of those special blood-sucking special interest that will profit from it.

The validity of health care reform now under legislative discussion being of benefit to 'We the People" is highly doubtful. Notice the X (is it Harry, can't think of his name just now) and Louise TV ad favoring reform was sponsored by a group of Big Pharma. The bastards are now so arrogont they are no longer even bothering to to use a false-flag-misleading name like, maybe, "Caring Americans for Health Care for All".

The uberelites have got us by the balls and boobs and it won't stop until some natural disaster pretty much if not entirely destroys civilization. It seems to me ironic that the uberelites have caused civilization to become a false-flag-misleading name in and of itself.

Maybe Yellowstone will blow before Peak Oil or Global Warming devastates both the uberelites and us, upon which they feed.
